Moby, the trend-setter

March 10, 2007

Or not.  From his blog:

see, i was out to dinner this evening in paris and i was talking about the records that i had brought with me for my dj’ing gig later on. i was greeted with looks and words of incredulity.
‘you still play records?’
‘why, yes, of course i do. doesn’t everybody?’
well, imagine my surprise when i found out that most(if not all)dj’s currently playing music for the young people no longer play vinyl records.

Granted, I don’t exactly spend a lot of time in dance clubs, but I have to admit being surprised.  I thought the pro’s would never give up vinyl.

I got odds III

March 9, 2007

OK, so I was way wrong on Kerry. But still, in retrospect, if I were really a bookie, I wouldn’t have wanted to pay big odds on Kerry winning. After all, he’d done it before.

Hillary Clinton 2:1
Barack Obama 5:1
John Edwards 7:1
Bill Richardson 14:1
Joe Biden 16:1
Christopher Dodd 16:1
Wesley Clark 18:1
Al Gore 18:1
field 18:1
Dennis Kucinich 55:1
Al Sharpton 55:1
Mike Gravel 75:1
Lyndon LaRouche 240:1

Since last time: Obama officially in... Kerry, Vilsack dropped out.

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman out on DVD!

March 7, 2007

I used to watch this when it first came out and never knew how over-my-head it was until I saw a repeat of the last episode of season one when Mary has a nervous breakdown. I was riveted. It was the saddest, bleakest, least funny moment of any “sitcom” I’d ever seen.
Cheap, cheesy, brilliantly satirical, rent it on Netflix as soon a you can. (Sorry: not due until 3/27/07) You youngsters need to watch this.

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman finally out on DVD

On IMDB : Read the comments of diehard fans.

Famous Friends #1

My brother writes for McClatchy’s Washington bureau. He’s currently got a story classified as a “Special Report” on the growing level of poverty in America. (link)
He was the reporter that broke the story of the true cost of the Medicaid Drug Plan back in ’06 I think it was.
Nick Clooney, (George’s dad and renowned fixture in Cincinnati media) has written a response to the poverty article and so has Jesse Jackson in the Chicago Sun Times. Google counts about 153 blog mentions. He’ll be featured on Al Jazeera Televison on Monday, March 5th. According to him they’ll be devoting all day coverage to the story.
You think he’ll hate me ’cause I just Boing-Boinged him? Family pride knoweth no boundaries.
